From the Gershwin's to the most recent Disney songs, this fat spiral tome packs the hits. The chord choices are intelligent with excellent voice leading. The notation is well spaced with little clutter. Some of the intros have been trimmed out, but I am not a singer, and I always found intros to be the most clichéd part of almost all Broadway songs. You may beg to differ. You've got a who's who of Broadway royalty here: Porter, Rogers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Lowe, Bernstein, Sondheim and of course the aforementioned Gershwin brothers. I am still moving along with the songs that I am most familiar with. There are a host of songs from 1930s and 1940s musicals that don't ring a bell. I'll check them out last. In short, the book delivers on its title.

I was under the mistaken impression that fakebook songs are all in the key of C. I’m so glad to discover this is not true! This is a game changer for my musicianship, and I can’t believe I didn’t give it a shot sooner! The songs are indexed first by title and then (separately) by show, and there is also a guide with summaries of each show.

This book is awesome. With almost 700 songs, contains just about any Broadway tune that you would want. I love the fact that it is organized by the show each song is from and not simply alphabetically, so that all the songs from one show appear next to each other. But if you still needed to find a song by title, the table of contents is alphabetical ( there is also a second table of contents that lists each show). With that in mind, remember that this is a fake book. The song in the book may not exactly match the version of the song you are used to hearing. The fake chart may not have introductions, instrumental fills, key changes, and may not be in the same key as the Broadway version. If you want to have those, you would have to add them on your own, but it is still a great framework to build upon.

I play for various piano bars. The only actual book I carry is the Broadway Fake Book(everything else is on my tablet). It's like my bible because the boys love their showtunes...and I do, too. My copy was well used and falling apart so I bought this new edition. There are some really great additions to past versions of this book. However, there are some surprising cuts. I've played in bars for 20 years, and have wondered why certain shows have been included in every edition of these books, but they are from shows almost no one has ever heard of, and certainly no one has ever made a request from these shows. Other popular shows, they cut songs that are hugely popular while keeping in some old duds that just take up space. Another big complaint is that some of these songs are not complete, leaving out the intro (verse) and well...people like singing those parts, too. I would say if you know how to use a fake book, and you either already know the scores you're playing and just want a handy reference...OR...you just want to play some well known melodies, this is perfect for you. All in all, it's a great collection of tunes, but I am rather irked at the cuts of certain songs from the previous version of the Broadway fake book (yellow cover)

I work in a piano bar and I really like how easy it is to reference a song on demand because they are categorized by show or by the name of the song. I also like that the more contemporary shows are available along with older shows because request from customers I diverse.

I love this book! It’s really given me a ton of songs to toy with and enough depth to play the chord progressions accurately without getting bogged down note for note. Also, I’m impressed at the blend of modern and classic Broadway choices. Get this if: you’re an intermediate player and want to advance your understanding of showtune chord progressions. You want to have hundreds of songs to quickly play at your disposal. Don’t get this if: you are looking for note for note piano sheet music.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE THE COLLECTION IS PRETTY LARGE. ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE, THE SCORES ARE WRITTEN IN 6 BARS TO THE LINE, MAKING IT PRETTY SMALL ON MY IPAD.

I wanted to update the old version of the Broadway fake book that I had bought years ago. My biggest concern was the amount of repeated material or lack of new songs. I was pleasantly surprised with many things. The layout and size of the print is much better than the old version. And, there are songs from recent shows such as “Hamilton“ and a lot of the jukebox musicals (Mamma Mia, Moving out, Jersey boys). There are still songs from the old classics but the number of new songs makes it well worth the price. it’s not often that my expectations are exceeded but this is one instance.

nice book but wish the size of these fake books were split in half as they are almost to much to handle and numbered vol. 1 and 2.

O produto é bom e o preço estava ótimo então resolvi ficar com ele, mas não é esse produto da foto do anúncio. É um livro de partituras com bem menos músicas do que o modelo anunciado. Não sei se foi má fé da loja ou não, mas acredito que a Amazon devia ser mais criteriosa ao aceitar que se coloque um produto em um título já existente.

This is a 1st class music book with a wide range of songs from a host of musicals. Having read the reviews on the smaller version,I bought the full size book and found the print just right for my 79 year old eyes. This is a large heavy book and needs a strong music stand.

There are so many songs in here, it's inevitably going to have lots that you'd like. I would prefer more depth in modern musicals, and far fewer from forgotten shows, but I guess you are inevitably going to have such a compilation be padded out with cheaper things for them to include.
