Worked surprisingly well on unbleached/undyed medium brown hair
I used this product on my daughter's medium brown, unbleached/undyed hair. Most hair color charts place her natural hair color as a level 5. She really wanted her hair to be the same magenta/fuschia color as the character she wanted to be for Halloween (Mal from Disney's Descendants 2, hair is more pink in this movie, where it was purple in the first). I did quite a bit of research first, and chose this based on reviews and photos from other customers. The Manic Panic website also recommended the Hot Hot Pink (and a few others) for unbleached hair as opposed to other colors, so I would stay with their recommendations. I was worried that the color wouldn't show up at all in her hair, and she hates the spray on hair color (which may wash out, but is full of aerosolized chemicals, and I don't like my kids inhaling that stuff). This item had no chemical smell at all. My daughter's hair is typically more towards the oily side (as much as it can be for an 8 year old, for an adult, it would be considered neither oily nor dry). However, she spent a considerable amount of time in the pool this summer, which did dry out the length of her hair somewhat. This may have allowed the dye to penetrate better, despite this being months ago. The dye did seem to adhere just as well to the roots. I rinsed her hair with diluted apple cider vinegar first, while it was still dry, and rinsed well. Then I blow-dried it completely. After thoroughly coating her hair with it, I blow-dried her hair again for about five minutes, put it in a plastic cap, and left it on for a little over 2 hours. I put a towel over the cap as well to keep in heat, and blow-dried it again for another five minutes before rinsing. I had no issues with rinsing it in the shower... it did not turn her back pink while rinsing. I used vaseline around her hairline and had no problems with staining. Since then, there has been the usual issues of staining of pillow cases (and also her forehead, which has acquired a pink tint in the past few days because she has bangs. Nothing worse than expected. The color is still the same a week later (which surprises me, I now wonder if she'll have pinkish hair at Christmas, because I expected at least a little fading within days). When her hair was first rinsed, I worried at first that the color didn't take. But when I started drying it, I was astonished. Because her hair was darker, the hot hot pink color showed up almost the exact same fuschia color as the character's. My daughter was thrilled, and while the process probably took about 3 hours plus, I didn't have to spray her hair full of noxious smelling spray, which I'd have had to wash out on Halloween night when we were both exhausted, and she is just beside herself. Her school has no dress code issues with hair colors, so I don't have to worry about that being an issue. It's incredible that this showed up with her hair being darker. I would buy this product again.

The best!
I've been using MP for over 30 years, have tried all the reds, pinks and purples, and I always come back to hot hot pink because it shows up best on dark hair and lasts the longest. I think their hair before and after chart is underselling it, because I have dark brown hair and it comes out a totally noticeable and awesome purplish color (with bright pink "highlights" from all the greys I have now, lol!). I have naturally wavy/curly, DRY, porous hair, so these kinds of dye work great for me. If you think it fades fast, just stay away from shampoo and hot water as much as you possibly can. Before dyeing I wash my hair with dish soap (sounds crazy, I know) and hot water, then blow dry til it's bone dry for maximum absorption. I also use like a bottle and a half for my (thick) shoulder length hair, and leave the dye in for way more than half an hour. It doesn't take long for the water to run clear when I rinse (with water as cold as I can stand). Then I slather it with leave-in conditioner/hair oil and rinse again in the morning. Afterwards I go back to my normal curly girl routine of co-washing with cool water, so it lasts a loooong time, with the added bonus of making my hair less parched and frizzy looking. It tames my coarse, wiry, fly-away greys like nobody's business! Amplified definitely does last longer than classic, worth the extra few bucks! Will add a freshly dyed pic later. =)

Longest lasting pink ever; adorable shade
My favorite dye. I have porous, naturally blonde hair, bleached to a level 10 with a t18 toner applied. My hair usually doesn’t like to absorb color nicely because of how porous it naturally is. I have used this on my virgin hair and am equally satisfied but bleach for a more vibrant color. I’ve tried countless brands including punky, Arctic fox, lunar tides, wella, and a few others. Pink is my go to so this review is exclusively based on hot hot pink compared to other similar shades of pink from other brands at varying price points excluding splat. I usually maintain my color with punky pinktabulous and wash my hair only once a week. I’ve been doing this for a year and only ever have to touch up my roots. My color barely fades from the first day of application although occasionally I redye the bottom 4 inches every 4 months. This dye is very dilution friendly I’ve gone up to 1:1 with conditioner and still had achieved desired color uptake. Now this is how impressive the dye is: I’ve been washing my hair exclusively with a clarifying shampoo twice a week for 4 weeks trying to get the smell of a recent car accident out. I also laid in a hospital bed sweating for 2 weeks—I’ve had slight color fade by about two shades to just a lighter shade of pink and the only color loss I’ve had is around my roots where I lazily slapped color shampoo on top of virgin roots a while ago. I also haven’t touched my color depositing shampoo in 8 weeks—I had just been washing with suave color protection once a week prior to the 4 weeks of clarifying shampoo twice a week. Mind you my hair is not stained I did a bleach bath for 15 minutes 4 months ago and went level ten and a completely different color temporarily before returning to pink. Also I was once able to remove this color with two rounds of color oops. Manic panic hot hot pink is amazing. Also the shade is just beyond adorable.

Hot Hot Pink
I guess it sort of glows in black light. This is hot hot pink. We have to re dye it every 4 weeks and that's washing hair only once a week. It is a gorgeous color though. This does not smell like original Manic Panic at all but it's smell is pleasant. It's super thick and I do not recommend squeezing the bottle, just unscrew the top and use otherwise you get splats that go everywhere.

Get Ready for BRIGHT Pink!
An extremely intense pink color that goes on smoothly and easily. I have medium dark hair so I bleached before applying. (I used Manic Panic's Amplified Bleach. If you are doing a lot of hair, or your hair is long, I would get 2 bleach kits if you are using this particular brand.) Manic Panic is easy to apply - just apply the color where you want it, leave it (I left it for about an hour), rinse out. And rinse out. And rinse out. lol Expect to turn your towel pink - for the next couple of washes. The less you wash your hair, the longer it stays. After a few washes, this color will turn a nice shade of pastel pink. (Still pretty.) If you want seriously bright pink hair, just recolor it when it begins to fade. It's MUCH easier to color the second time, since you most likely will only have to apply the color - not bleach. Right after coloring, be careful - ANYTIME your hair gets wet, the color WILL run. (It will also get under your nails when you scratch your head.) These minor annoyances don't bother me enough to stop using Manic Panic...but I would want to know this stuff before I used it. Bottom Line: Manic Panic is the BEST product out there for coloring your hair funky shades. It lasts much longer than any other brand I've tried, it's easy application makes re-touches "cake", and the colors are bold and brilliant. I wouldn't hesitate to use this brand, or color, again. You definitely make a statement! (If you want a pastel shade to begin with, buy their Pastel-izer. It will turn any bold shade of Manic Panic into a subdued pastel.) ManicPanic.com is full of awesome information and great tips. There's even a spot where they show what the hair color looks like on real people. Best part? The don't test any of their products on animals. YAY!

Awesome hair color for kids and teens
If your kid has been asking to have their hair colored, this is a product you can use without worrying about destroying their hair. I used Manic Panic on my own hair when I was a teenager, so when my kids started asking for color in their hair, this was my go-to product. It works just as well as it ever did, and doesn't damage your hair. It is a fun, semi-permanent way to give them what they wanted, and totally made me the cool mom (for about five minutes). I would recommend this with a warning - it will stain everything -- make sure you wear plastic gloves and clothes you don't care about staining while applying. Also be prepared to wipe down your sink or shower while rinsing - grout will never be the same if you let it sit! Because it is semi- permanent, it will was out the more hair is exposed to water. Expect to reapply often if you swim often, as has been the case with my kids. But they don't mind sitting for it since they love the results. My kids have medium brown hair and the turquoise and hot pink have worked well without any kind of bleaching. I just apply it, let it sit for about 45 minutes and rinse. Works just like it did in the 90s!

Color does not last long sadly
It’s such a beautiful vibrant pink when you first put this in buuut it QUICKLY fades. Most of the color was faded to a pale barely there pink within 3 weeks. (See photos taken 3 weeks and 2 days apart) If the pink lasted longer, I would give this 5 stars all day! I will continue to use this product because it is so far the brightest pink I have come across but I think the formula isn’t strong enough or something.

Best color for cherry cola on Black hair no bleach!!
I have black hair, and Hot Hot Pink gave me a really pretty berry/cherry cola red without bleach!! It showed up much better than Vampire Red and Pillarbox Red without bleaching. I recommend using a color-maintaining shampoo and conditioner for preservation. I use Milk_Shake Pink Lemonade to enhance the color even more, but it’s still very visible without it! Definitely recommend Hot Hot Pink Amplified for black hair!

Product size
I absolutely loved it! The color is gorgeous and looks exactly like the picture. However, please note that the bottle is extremely small. My hair is 22 inches long, and even though I only dyed the bottom section (peekaboo style), it wasn't enough. I barely managed to spread it through. To give you an idea, the packaging is actually smaller than an iPhone Pro Max. Definitely buy more than one if you have long hair!
