Does it help relieve pain when going up and down stairs?

They always helped my knees. Obviously it will depend on just how bad your knees are. To be honest I don't remember how they helped stairs vs flat. It's a pretty small investment for potential relief.

Can this strap be worn in a pool for water exercises?

I would think that the Velcro would stay. Wash afterwards of course. Enjoy the pool!

Can this be worn on top of workout pants ?

Hello, the strap length is long enough it should fit around you leg with workout pants. I will lock the pant leg material in place though. For me I wear it directly to the skin just below the knee cap. I had an ACL repair 20+ years ago and I find it stabilizes the knee cap and the knee joint and feels comfortable.

Does this fit extra-large knees for big people

My knee just under the kneecap measures 14.5 inches and the straps cross over each other behind my knee. I showed the strap to a friend at work who also has knee issues. She is a large lady. She tried mine out and ordered her own based on the fit. They work on a wide range of sizes.
