Great piece of kit
I wasn't sure if this was going to be any good but was pleasantly suprised. Although you construct it yourself,it is by no measn rickety or ustable, it is solid and well built. It goes up and down in a jiffy and feels sturdy on the door. It doesn't seem to hand off the top of the door frame as i expected, but rather redirects the weight into the front of the door frame (...some kind of physics i suspect!). Also, given that you can hang off it and put in on the floor, you can do far more than the 4 exercise shown in the video. Here is a brief list i worked out you can do on it in the few hours I have had it: On door frame: All variations of pull up (I can think of around 8, probably more), chin ups, hanging L-sits, hanging L-sit pull ups, knees to elbows, feet to hands, variations on front levers, ...probs lots others, check out bodyweight websites. On Floor/hooked behind door: Push ups (either on round bars or wide bar), dips (but really these are a waste of time as it is too low so do these on chairs), sit-ups (all variations), Leg raises (lying on back holding bar hooked on bottom of door behing head), L-sits etc, but most importantly you now have a set of paralell bars to practice variations on tuck and straddle plauches, planche push-ups, handstands, handstand push-ups, again many more. The only problem is that it is not fixed (although also one of its strenghts, in that you can take it up an down in seconds). As it is not fixed you cannot really use it for any kipping, so only strict form works here. not really a problem as strict form is great for strength and if your into crossfit type workouts, I'm sure you've found bars for kipping somewhere else. I think this is a great bit of kit and would help anyone starting out with bodyweight exercises, would suit anyone taking up Pavels "grease-the-groove" approach where you need to do your exercises all throughout the day and don't live in a gym.

Very sturdy
Comes with basic instructions to assemble, but still easy to follow, in the combined instruction and workout booklet. Some spare nuts and bolts, which is no doubt a good idea as long as you keep them safe. The unit is very sturdy and supports my weight (100kgs) well. One thing to think about is do you have you a doorway in which this will fit as the bar extends slightly beyond the door surround (93.5cm long) so you need a doorway with a bit of space each side. As you hang beneath a 6'6" door way you need to bend your knees to keep them off the floor, however this makes it easy to give a little boost when you get to the end of a set at exhaustion. This is the only bit of equipment you need when following a body weight exercise regime of press ups, squats/lunges, sit ups, burpees and of course chins. With the included tools you can also disassemble and pack it in your luggage to take on holiday to avoid the resort's gym fees. Bear in mind however that it weighs just under 2kgs for your miserly baggage allowance! All in all a good buy.

An excellent addition to a workout
I was at first a bit dubious about buying one of these; I was worried that it would damage the door frame, or it wouldn't see much use. However, as I needed to develop my strength, I gave it a go. As usual, the free delivery was quick and reliable, and the parts used to make the bar are well made. The safety clip enclosed ensures no damage comes to the door frame or bar, and it is safe to do almost any exercise on. In terms of biceps, the chin-ups are great. The three types of grip available allow me to work every part of the bicep, and the comfortable padding helps while developing grip strength. However, because it is nearly impossible to isolate the biceps in this exercise, consider using dumbells as well to maximise the benefit. I was unfortunately a bit disappointed with the pull up function; the bar is nowhere near as wide as it should be. Unlike other non-portable gym grade bars, the lack of width means I can't target the Teres minor and major muscles as well as all of my Latissimus Dorsi muscles; hence the four star review. Also, as with the other reviews, check the door frames at home. I only found one that actually fitted the bar. Tricep workouts are poorly advertised in the booklet, as the dip is only useful for people just starting out. One suggestion is to go for close hand push-ups and lower your chest to as close to the bar as possible, as it provides a much better exercise. Also, as suggested by another review, abs are better trained by hanging from the bar and doing straight leg raises, and provided there's enough room, doing hanging straight leg trunk twists, where you basically hang from the bar with your body parallel to the floor, and swing your legs from side to side. Much less reps required. As I imagine the maximum weight load of the bar to be quite high, if the exercises get too easy, a weight belt and some plates can be ordered online. Considering the amount of time it would take to progress through them, they can be bought at quite a low price. Overall, despite the aforementioned disappointment with the pull-up function, the bar is well worth the money for chin-ups alone, not mentioning the exercises that can be used for pecs, tris and abs. The quality of the materials means that the bar will last for a good while, and if gaining strength or endurance is your goal, then it is definitely worth a purchase.

Check your doorframe depth first
I put this together as per the instructions. So far, so good. It feels fairly sturdy and was straightforward to construct. Where it all falls down (literally) is that when I attach the chin up bar across the doorframe, it doesn't stay in place when I start putting my (10st) weight on it, and the safety hook (a thin safety hook that you slide into the back of the doorframe, between the frame and the wall) just gives way. My best guess is that it needs a much deeper doorframe i.e. that the frames in my house do not stick out enough from the wall. The depth of my doorframes is about 4mm with the result that the bar had little to catch on and the hook was left taking most of the weight. My guess is you're probably supposed to have frames of at least 1.5cm, and judging from the depth of the safety hook and the thickness of the bar that rests on the frame, perhaps as much as 2.5cm. There's nothing in the product description or installation instructions that mentions this. Unfortunately none of my doors appear to have a frame deep enough for this, so I'm left a bar that can only be used for push ups and sit ups, both of which I can do without a bar anyway. So it'll be going to the charity shop.

Excellent product, although one has to be careful on door fittings
This product is good, and I use it at Uni a lot to replace free weights. Fitting on a door can be a bit tricky and not all doors do the trick unfortunately. This meant that I had to use the main door leading to the Halls, but in a weird way, it turned out good because it meant people saw me and wanted to try to and it became a kind off a community thing. The pull ups is the best bit, you really feel it working, and I have slowly progressed to 15 pull ups on all three positions and 5 one handed with wrist support pull ups after 3 weeks of training in one set. I also use it for push ups, which is great because it hurts the wrist less than a normal floor push up. Also the varied positions encourage me to try different push ups. I actually also do use the dips, because of its compact size, and people have been giving it a hard time, but it is affective because the fairly restricted movements ensure that you don't lose form and allows a intense work out. I hardly ever use the sit up function, but it does its job well. Only criticism, you do have to actually have a door fitting that works, but when it does work, it works like a charm. Shame i bought it after a discount. Stay classy, and now, finely tuned too with this product, my friend even bought one herself. JL

Great piece of kit
I don't often write any reviews but feel I have to for this product. I've wanted a pull up bar for some time and have read most other reviews for this and many other products which come across quite scary at times. I've used park equipment, trees etc to mimic a pull up bar and still prefer to be training outside when the weather is nice, but during the winter the cold, wet metal can put you off a bit. Having decided to bite the bullet knowing that the product is inexpensive anyway I received the pull up bar and assembled it in minutes. It fits on all my doors (I live in a standard, modern house) and feels very sturdy. I even use it on my garage back door so I can still train outside when the weather is nice. I didn't want the item for the extra exercises you can do on it, but tried them out and I'm extremely impressed. Being a fan of minimal equipment, I wish I hadn't bothered with weights benches etc when I could buy this for a fraction of the price and gain better results in the process.

Flawed, but may cater to your needs
Simply put this product is sturdy and relatively easy to assemble BUT and a big but it has several flaws. The instructions are practically non-existant you're given a single diagram and with screws coming in two different lengths. I got half way with the wrong screw before having a frustrating experience of trying to undo a bolt whilst clamping the screw. Soon enough I wanted to break something and I'm quite the patient person. Having assembled the product came the next dilemma, finding an actual door frame that could accomodate this bit of engineering. I had quite the epic fall in my first few experiments on one particular door frame, and what I've come to notice is that you need a.) the wooden door frame above your door to be incredibly thick, enough to support the plastic middle section and b.) a door frame itself of depth short enough that the bar can sit comfortably at 90 degrees. If you lack either of these the product hangs itself at a 45 degree angle and will basically fall mid work-out. I eventually found the bathrooms where I live to be the only place capable of hanging the iron-gym and it is only for this purpose that I won't be returning it. Also I'm on the shorter side of things standing at a mighty 5'6 and yet I found even I have to bend my knees to ensure I don't touch the ground, so if you're on the taller side this product simply won't be fit for your needs. As a push-up bar the width of your shoulders is fixed, which limits the style of press ups you can perform (I like to do wide-arm push-ups to mix things up for instance). The dip function is absolutely useless. The sit up function is decent yet, any fitness enthusiast knows crunches are a superior exercise for working your abdominals. In conclusion try borrowing this off a friend to see if it fits your doors (and you) before you purchase, and if you're really keen on the other features consider an alternative. I gave this 3 Stars only because it does its job and nothing more. In reality it deserves more a 2.5 star rating as it's barely adequate.

Pull/chin up bar.
I have received my JML workout bar and to be honest I thought this would be a bit of a gimmick, however, I have been pleasantly suprised as the bar is excellent. I am a member of a gym where they have frames for doing these exercises, but my wife could not use these as she cannot reach them and they always hurt her hands but with the padding on the bar she is constantly using it(my wife using the bar never even entered my head when I ordered it), which is the only down side I can see! In general the bar took me 3 minutes to build and is solid. The door frame I use has an opening which is quite wide @ 32" and it fits perfectly. The design of the bar will allow fitting to various door sizes so this should not be a problem. I have taken it on and off the door frame constantly and there are no marks left on the wall and the door frame. I have been using this bar now for a few months and would definately recommend this bar. You can also do hanging leg raises and hanging trunk curls for your Abs, which no one else has mentioned.

Five Stars
Good product you can hang it across the door by just fitting at wooden block at one side of door and then you can hang it from other side. Good durable and worth product and you can do many exercises from this. It's definitely better than simple bars plus less expensive.
