Lots of fun, but small hands may need to practice using the tweezers
This item was bought as a gift for two children of differing ages. 4.5 years old and the other is nearly 7. The game comes with batteries included so from opening to starting the first go, was probably only 5 minutes. Initial Setup includes 3 steps: * Step 1 - Pushing circa 16 cards from a cardboard holder (circa 1 minute to do). * Step 2 - Releasing the items to be inserted in the body from a plastic holder, which is easily done by twisting the individual items one at a time (circa 2 minutes). * Step 3 - Placing the items into the body by matching the shape of the items to the images on the game board. Note you also need to insert the rubber band which is held on its own in a small plastic resealable bag (circa 1 minute). Then comes the fun 😊. We initially tried playing by the rules but quickly realised that both children were struggling to use the tweezers to pick up the items, so we are currently focusing on learning that skill rather than playing competitively initially and that will take some time to master. Both kids are delighted though and really enjoyed the challenge and can't wait to play properly. My only criticism of the game is that some of the body items are smaller than a 5mm measurement and as they are white/bone like in appearance they could be very easily lost,.

Stressful yet fun.
Operation is the perfect game if you’ve ever wanted to perform surgery with the grace of a nervous caffeinated squirrel. Every round turns into a mix of laughter, panic, and someone yelling “STOP TOUCHING THE SIDES!” My family hasn’t mastered a single extraction, but we’ve mastered screaming when the buzzer goes off.

An excellent pass-time and a very engaging board game that can be enjoyed by adults as well!
I finished playing a full game with my partner not an hour ago, so this review is fresh from the actual experience of this board game to all of you who are thinking of buying this product! Contrary to what other buyers seem to have experienced, judging from their respective reviews, the game is neither too difficult nor to easy to play. The spaces where all the 'ailments' are supposed to be set are just narrow enough for the game to provide the player with some challenge, otherwise it would indeed be a walk in park! All the 'ailments' are included, as is a set of cards. That might be a variation to other versions of Operation as there is only one deck of ailment cards with an item description (in tongue-in-cheek verse) and the value that each 'extraction' will credit to the player(s). Therefore, those of you who are familiar with a distinction between 'doctor-' and 'specialist cards' may be disappointed. However, in actual practice, this differentiation just makes the game a tad simpler without any negative impact on gameplay enjoyability. In addition, the batteries needed are included as well. On the negative sife of things, what prevented us from giving this version a full 5-star rating was the fact that the buzzer does not actually 'buzz'. Rather, the whole board vibrates every time the tweezers touch the metal frames but no sound is ever produced. At the time of writing this, the seller has been contacted and a relevant inquiry has been made regarding this issue as it might just be consistent with this version of the game. An update will be made as soon as we hear back from them. All in all, this board game makes for a very enjoyable experience and this particular version is almost devoid of flaws, and at a good price too!

Still a classic
Still a great game for kids and adults alike but the modern version is a lot more expensive than it used to be and feels cheaper. The cards are on a perforated sheet which you have to tear apart yourself, not pre-cut. They're thin card too. The artwork is more cartoony than I remember and the plastic objects not as detailed. The gameplay is still the same but the worst decision was to have a bit whopping hole in the lid of the box, presumably so people can push the guys nose in the shop. As a game with lots of tiny pieces they're prone to falling about the box, and the hole on the lid makes it inevitable some are going to fall out and get lost. And for this game in particular it's not very playable with missing pieces and you can't really substitute something else for any missing ones. Not a good design decision. Definitely not an improvement on the original version of Operation we all remember.
