where does the actual tea come from? I ask because there is so much pollution in China and India these days. thanks.

This is VERY good tea. I have NO idea where it comes from but I very much doubt that Fortnum & Mason would be buying it from anyplace where there might be pollution. They have been in business for a couple of hundred years and the British are VERY fussy about their TEAS. The only place to buy this tea at a reasonable price is the Fortum and Mason store in London. When you buy it through Amazon or other retailers here you will be paying DOUBLE the price.

is this tea caffeine free?

No, this tea is not caffeine free. As described, "classic Royal Blend notes of Flowery Pekoe from Ceylon uplift the maltier Assam", they are rich black teas. This blend is one of my favorites and is a welcome cup in the morning. I order this consistently for its great flavor and full body. Since I generally do not drink decaffeinated tea I can not recommend an alternative. Perhaps some of the green teas with less caffeine would suit you.

Is there a way to know the expiration date?

I last ordered this tea in February 2021. and the tin that was delivered has an expiration date of November 30, 2023 (stamped 30/11/23) on the bottom. I don't know if you can determine the exp date before it is ordered.
