will there be any issue if i place this directly in the middle of my dash? before the GLO would get very hot from the sun... Would this help/prevent?

I placed it in the center of my dash. After a couple of hours operating and being in the hot sun, it would shut down. After it cooled it would run again. I assumed that it would simply overheat.

Does this work with gps too?

This device is simply a rubber friction mount that the Garmin Glo, a GPS receiver, fits into. It would work for any other device that you could manage to insert into it...........
