Easy to use (my old one could only be set in one minute increments - no 30 second timing!) 2. Handy (locating it anywhere you want for both storage and use) 3. Loud enough to hear from adjacent rooms This timer comes close to meeting all three. You can set it with precision, easily (entering hours, minutes, and seconds). It has a nice base which flips out for countertop placement. It's plenty loud, and has an escalating frequency alarm to alert you. Why not five stars? Well, it has two magnets on the back so it will stick to the refrigerator -- or so it should. Problem is, they've recessed the magnets into the back of the timer. That prevents the magnets from scratching the fridge, but since they are not very strong magnets, the weight of the timer causes it to slide down the side of the fridge. There's no way to stick the timer to a vertical metal surface, since the weak magnets are not up to the task . . .
