UPDATE: One year later and still going strong! My golden retriever is now 20 months old and 65 pounds and still loves it. I change the toy on the end every few months and vary the height. She is currently enjoying the Kong Tuggerknot Moose toy at the end of it. I’m also currently attaching it with a blue soft loop tie down strap purchased from Amazon. The original rope that the bungee came with is still miraculously intact, but I like the length of this strap right now. It’s an easy way to provide some exercise and get some of her puppy energy out. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this for my golden retriever puppy when she was 4 months old. She is now almost 7 months old and 50 pounds and has played with it for at least 30 minutes every day. It's the first thing she heads for when we go outside every morning. It is very durable as she often chews on the rope used to attach the toy and I didn't think it would hold up but it has. The bungee part of this toy is brilliant! All dogs love to play tug of war and she grabs that toy and walks and pulls and shakes it to her heart's content. If it slips out of her mouth, even more fun as it bounces all over and she has to jump and chase it! The design is wonderful as I didn't even need a ladder to set it up. I just tossed it over the branch and looped it through (like a leash handle) and we were good to go! The rope that attaches the toy to the bungee works the same way and allows you to make adjustments to the height of the toy by leaving the rope straight, doubling or quadrupling the rope. I love it when toys are well thought out. Finally, I like that the rope allows me to change the toy at the end to make it more interesting. The Kong Tail toy works wonderfully and is my golden's favorite. It is a red Kong with a blue loop coming out the top and sturdy "tails" coming out the bottom. The toy that comes with it works well also. I highly recommend this toy as my puppy can get out all of her puppy energy while staying on the end of her leash!

This is the BEST EVER dog toy especially if you are looking to EXERCISE a large active dog! The ""magic" is in the bungee cord which keeps the toy in motion and "pulling". I have a female pitbull mix, Sandy, who is a very tall dog unlike a pitbull, weighs 100 pounds, all muscle and very athletic. She runs, pulls--lots of pulling, jumps--when the ball gets away or she releases it, and catches it midair. I have this set up so the ball hangs 3 ft from the ground--she can only swing off her feet, briefly, if she catches the ball at the end of it's arc. Pitbulls like that. You will need to supervise your dog's play the first time because this will get hung up in the tree branches when the bungee "rope" boings it up high in the air. Then there will be whining and barking if it is out of reach. For my tree situation, this happens maybe once every 15 minutes, sometimes not at all. But I sit outside read my emails or make phone calls while Sandy works out. I don't have to go for a walk or throw a ball. I have seen other owners put this toy around the base of the tree to make it more of a pull toy and no worries about tree branches (maybe not as fun). Sandy plays with this 3x/day, 15-25 minutes each time and has had it 3-4weeks. The best thing about this product is the vigorous exercise it provides for active dogs. I'm buying another one.

My dog loved this at first but now I need to engage with the toy for him to be interested in it. I wish I could shove some treats in the ball and that might make him want to play with it more. The rope was a good length and you can adjust the height at the end with the bungee cord it comes with. It’s really durable and even if they chew on it for a while they won’t chew through the rope part unless they are just chewing on it for a long time in my opinion. It’s hanging so that’s going to be hard. The rope part of the dog toy is really strong and durable, and the ball is chew resistant as well. Also comes with an extra ball just incase your dog is a monster. This dog tree tugger was the best price on amazon and looked the nicest so I’m glad I purchased this one. Overall I’m hoping my dog plays with it on his own down the line when I’m not able to play with him myself. Just make sure you have a good branch to tie it to before buying. I had to use a smaller branch than I wanted to because it wouldn’t work on the thicker branch since it wouldn’t reach.

I bought the large for our 18 month old English Bullie. I hung the toy at eye level as directed, and while he was willing to tug on it with me, he just stood there holding it. I shortened the loops to hang the ball about 8 inches above his head, and it's made all the difference. He has to jump slightly to grab it, and it's just bouncy enough to swing away and keep his interest. He still won't do much with it without me, but it's a stress-free way for me to give him some exercise without tearing my arms up. Once I get it away from him, stretch and release the toy, he loves jumping after it. 10 minutes, and he's beat for a few hours. After he snapped off 2 thick branches, I finally tied it around a 3 inch limb and it is holding well. The cords are standing up to his determined attacks. I'm very pleased.

UPDATE: I am reordering, but the cloth rope did break in about 6 months time. But it's such a hit, I have to reorder! My golden retriever loves this toy! We purchased the large, and it is very long. To clarify, it does come with a green, rope ball for the end. We've tied it up a few different lengths to have fun with the height, which keeps our dog interested. From the dog's perspective, it provides unpredictable, tugging fun! The rope is durable, yet pliant and thick, so as to not hurt a dog's mouth. We tried a tether ball before finding this toy, and the rope on a tether ball caused our dog's gums to bleed - you don't have to worry about this bungee hurting your dog's mouth. A few words of caution: if you have a younger dog, be careful, because the impact from jumping could be harmful. Trust me when I say that your dog will LEAP to play with this bungee! The pics I'm including show the enthusiasm (ha)! Also, this is a toy that should be supervised. A dog could easily get caught up or otherwise compromised, which did happen to us (it wrapped around his neck). Otherwise, I think its an ingenious and well-built product. I disagree with some reviews that the toy it comes with isn't ideal. The green rope ball is a perfect complement to the bungee, although you could easily attach other toys if you wanted.

This toy was LOTS of fun for my 65 lb puppy who is an aggressive chewer. It's his absolute favorite toy. However the play is short lived. The rope ball broke after 30 minutes of play. Over the past few months, I've reattached the ball until the ball completely shredded, added new toys to the rope until the rope fabric tore, and now we are left with just the naked bungee cord. Every time we tried fixes, the toy only lasted for 30 minutes of play at most. I'm hoping to find something else to attach to the bungee since my dog seems to really like the toy (hence the 3 star rating). This is a great toy - I'm just not sure if it's worth it for a large dog who is an aggressive chewer...

This was an instant hit with our 5yo dog when we purchased it 6 months ago, and it’s still her favorite toy. The bungee action makes her go bonkers and do the funniest flips and jumps trying to catch it. It’s also easy to tie other soft toys to it, to mix it up. I rarely write reviews but am so glad we purchased this. Item arrived promptly and it was simple to hang it from a tree branch in our yard. There’s no visible wear after months of rough play. If you’re on the fence, just go for it. You’ll be glad you did, and your pup will too!

This product is very loved by my pooch! She obsessively will bring toys to play fetch (even after hours of fetch) and this is a great distraction from that. I’ve already purchased additional paracord and inexpensive play rope as she’s both ripped and chewed thru the thinner rope that attached the play rope. Easy enough fix without replacing the whole bungee, which seems as it will last for sometime. My partner said, “I thought this was going to be another one of those things you wasted $20 on Amazon on, but this was totally worth it!”
