If you've never owned a Buck knife let me tell you, they hold an edge like no other knife you've ever had. The workmanship on this knife is of a superior quality and it is an extremely good looking piece of equipment, so much so that I was hesitant about even getting it dirty let alone gut and skin a deer. That being said, I bought this knife for the express purpose of using it on North American big game. Between the 8 guys I hunt with we managed to bag 3 deer and a bear. I assisted in gutting two of the deer. The only thing I miss is not having a small lanyard to keep the knife attached to your wrist. Not only did we gut and skin the deer but we used it to butcher the deer as well. It has a hefty enough blade to separate joints without the fear of bending or snapping the blade. Yeah, I got it dirty. A little soap an water and it's like new. I did a little honing on the blade about a month ago and you can shave hair off your arm. Along with my Ruger #1 this is one of the better investments I made for hunting.

The state of California is insane.  They put this warning on absolutely everything, including a warning to "wash hands after handling."  It means nothing.

Most Buck Knives are made in the Idaho, USA.  A few are made in China.  The USA made knives have the Paul Bos heat treatment, which makes a world of difference in the quality of the blade - even if the steel is the same.  The Vanguard 192 is made in the USA.

I've heard numerous people barf out the rumor "Most Buck Knives are made in China."  That is not true.  Those who say it are either uniformed or lying.  Buck makes high quality knives right here in the United States of America.
