Strathmore 400 Series Heavyweight Drawing Pad, Medium Surface, 8"x10" Wire Bound, 24 Sheets

I'm a professional children's book illustrator. I admit that this paper can seem pricey, but this is good paper for inks and it makes all the difference in the finish of my work. Rough paper has ruined the outcome of plenty of my early sketches with smudges and fuzzy ink lines. This paper gives ink lines a crisp look and is sturdy enough to take the pencil and eraser work you have to do. It responds well to a light touch so you can get very nice gradients out of it even with your standard number 2 school pencils. Quality finished art pieces are many times more about the paper and skill than the tool. Put more money in the paper than the tool if you have to choose.

Sheerness? Why is that a choice? It is heavyweight drawing paper. It’s not supposed to be sheer. This paper is excellent for drawing, has a slightly rough texture, and will hold up to pen, pencil, crayon, and charcoal mediums well.

This particular type of Strathmore gives me results that sometimes amaze me! If I need a good sheet to produce a commercial product, I will use Strathmore it has never let me down.

I use this roll for chalk pastels and the paper seems to hold up well. The paper does need to be flattened out a bit before use just because it’s a roll of papers there than flat sheets, but other than that, the quality is great.

This is exactly as expected and you would find at a high end art store but much less expensive.

Bought this to use for apparel pattern making and it is working fine. At 100lb weight it is lighter than Manila which is usually 125lb weight but is working fine in my studio. For very frequently used designs, the heavier Manila is more durable. The only difference is texture... Manila pattern paper is much smoother and easier to write on with Sharpies. Also, my artistic significant other keeps swiping pieces of this for his charcoal sketches so it looks like it may not be more cost effective for my pattern making LOL!

I use this drawing pad for charcoal tracing, and I love it! The texture, and the color of paper is exactly what I was looking for. It is also very sturdy, and looks great when framed. :)

This paper has a very subtle cream/ ivory color, not bright white. Nice and thick and perfect for what I was looking for
