Zeh tanach hu tov maod!
I recently ordered this artscroll stone edition tanach and it's excellent. Zeh tanach hu tov maod. That means this tanach is very good in Hebrew. I can read ancient Hebrew on an intermediate level and I read the Hebrew text more than the English translation but the English translation is excellent and I love the clear Hebrew type and vowel markings and the classic commentary from the talmud and the midrashim. The binding is very strong and the cover is so beautiful. I love the strong ribbon page marker. My favorite part of the tanach to read is sefer tehillim. The book of psalms. I can read about 60 of the 150 psalms without needing to look up any Hebrew words in my brown driver Briggs Hebrew and English lexicon. I find that the print and binding in this tanach is much better than with my biblia hebraica stuttgartensia compact edition . This is a much better tanach than any jps translations. I grew up going to a reformed synagogue and my mother of blessed memory was Jewish and I really paid attention in Hebrew school but still forgot alot after my bar mitzvah but in recent years I've been refreshing and expanding my knowledge of ancient Hebrew and even though I'm not a really religious Jew I have great respect for our history and language and tradition and I am spiritual and believe in ha Shem and say Baruch ha Shem for preserving the Jewish ppl and our sacred tanach. I strongly recommend learning ancient Hebrew because the English is no where near as beautiful to read as the Hebrew especially in the sefer tehillim

It Has Given Me JOY
I have been wanting a translation like this for a while. I am new (have glanced at it before) to this translation. I am a Christian. I have a bachelors degree in Bible Theology. But I felt like I was missing something. I started looking into my Interlinear Hebrew-English Bible but things that I needed better understanding i was missing out. Exactly today it has been a week since I got it and started reading. Like I have said. It has given me new joy to read this bible. I look forward to reading it. I am at Exodus 15. As I read I can imagine their journey. Anyways. I had ordered by mistake the pocket size. I am 60 yrs old. And the font was too small. I was able to return and ordered the student edition. It's beautiful. Solid hard covers. Pages are too thin and do get stuck together. Also too thin so you need to be careful in turning the pages because they will tear (I almost did that). Translation is what I needed. Commentaries are good. Some don't explain well enough but give an opinion. Over all I recommend.

Excellent
Never having learned Hebrew, the only way I am able to study the Torah (and the Tanach) is through a good English translation. I was referred to this particular edition by a friend of mine in the Orthodox Jewish community who also teaches at Yale University. It's excellent. The English translations are clear, poetic, and (after conferring with many friends in the Orthodox community) true to the original Hebrew. The edition also comes with Talmudic annotations to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of each text. English and Hebrew appear side by side, affording you the opportunity to study Hebrew, as well. Beautiful and accessible, this edition also contains a variety of indexes addressing everything from biblical lineage to the appropriate Torah, Nevi'im or Kethuvim texts to study for particular holidays. It has become an essential part of my growth as a Jew and I would refer anyone to this edition (Jewish or not) who doesn't know Hebrew, but would like to enhance their understanding of the Torah.

Very helpful Tanach
This is my first time exploring Jewish scripture, as the realization recently occurred to me that it is odd to take a Christian outlook on prophecies and writings that were always Jewish in nature. I must say, I find this Tanach fascinating. First, it is written in both English and Hebrew. Though I don't read Hebrew, that is a great help for those that can. It is also presented from right to left, so you open the book "backwards." From a Judeo-Christian perspective, these are nice touches, but what I really like is the commentary in the footnotes. These are abbreviated comments from some of the more expansive Artscroll volumes, but for purposes of getting a general flavor of how Jewish thought aligns with scriptures, they are excellent. Finally, the book is bound in maroon bonded leather with gold foil lettering on the cover. It also has gold edges on the pages, and has a maroon ribbon book mark. An excellent addition to any library!

No one can top Artscroll's version of Tanakh.
B"H-- the greatest version of Tanakh out there (in English!) is this fantastic Artscroll classic. The cover is quite striking. The black with gold lettering is so lovely & the text of the English rendering of the scripture is also very beautiful. The Hebrew is crisp & clean. The print is not small, the book itself is a perfect size for a comfortable read. Some more knowledgeable students of Tanakh may complain about certain choices Artscroll made concerning the translation to English. "Shir Hashirim" for example is not the literal translation, but Rashi's allegorical rendering instead. But for a newer student of scripture, and especially for B'nai Noach, the translation is perfect. Noachides are not to delve too deep into the study of Torah & so this Artscroll translation sufficiently teaches us what Hashem Yitbarach spoke to Moshe & revealed to the other prophets & kings. There is a good amount of commentary to elucidate the verses, but for a more deep study, I recommend buying each individual book. The book comes shrinkwrapped & arrived in perfect condition, so I have no complaints at all. The price is great too, a bit cheaper than buying direct from Artscroll.

You won't find here silly things like Adam's "rib", nor "pierced feet" in Psalm 22... The MOST FAITHFUL translation from Hebrew in print. Qui non troverai stupidaggini come la "costola" di Adamo né i "piedi forati" del Salmo 22. La TRADUZIONE PIÚ FEDELE all'originale Ebraico che sia stata stampata.

Great product. Very happy. Good font size, well laid out, the only potential improvement I could think know is the paper thickness is a little thin, so that the print from the other side is visible, but not legible or interfering with legibility. I can understand if the paper were thicker the book would be too thick.
