Typical Lasko Winner
I live in one of the hottest areas of the US, Phoenix. Lots of 115+ degree days this summer. I bought the Misto about two weeks ago, and quite simply, this thing is an absolutely amazing BEAST!!!! I use a stationary recumbent exercise bike on my patio 7 days a week....30-60 min per workout. Even in the early morning hours, temps are hovering around 85-90 degrees, which usually makes for a miserable workout. Impossible at mid-day. The Lasko Misto performs like a champ!! This is not a toy. Positioned about 7-8 ft. from the bike, it immediately drops temps at least 25 degrees, plus the powerful blower makes you feel like you're in a windstorm of mist. Out of the 3 levels of power, I usually run on a 2......more than enough. Now I can go out virtually any time of day, workout hard, and ignore the heat. (The first time that I turned it on, it was 85 outside, and I felt way too cold, since the Misto was only 5 ft. from my bike.) I finally tweaked the distance and angle to perfection. Everything is adjustable, mist output, blower speed, and blower angle. And since the unit is weatherproof, I leave it outside without worry. While I do agree with other posters that you wind up getting somewhat wet, especially after 30 minutes, I am 110% thrilled with this purchase. Kudos to Lasko. And Amazon's price is a real bargain.

This was a real life saver for us!
We live in Woodland Hills, CA., a very hot part of the San Fernando Valley, otherwise known as the "Devil's Armpit" With global warming getting worse each year, our summer heat has become almost unbearable. This past August we hit 121 degrees within two weeks of temperatures in the triple digits. 114 degrees was not uncommon in this period. And while I could hide inside with air conditioning and my other cats, we have an older semi-feral cat who refuses to come in. In the winter I can put out heating pads on the covered porch, and our temps are never that low anyway. But it's really hard to know what to do to help cool the yard in the summer. I've used the hose just to wet things down -- bushes he lays in, etc. -- and I've had a mister in the tree which helps. But when it gets up to120 degrees, it's way beyond uncomfortable, it's a kind of killer heat which I wasn't sure this poor old cat could survive. I could only go out so often to wet his head down with ice. This Mister, really made all the difference in terms of summer survival. It really felt like it dropped the temperature in our yard down by 25 degrees. With the fan flowing, it creates a very strong mist. The first day I tried it was a bit of a disaster I'd aimed the mister straight at the bushes our cat likes to shelter in. The problem was that the bees, apparently also in need of cool water, flooded into the same area. But I found that by moving the mister back a ways, and aiming it more generally in his direction, the bees were not attracted to that one place. With the help of the occilation (at first I didn't think it was working, but I think in retrospect I just wasn't seeing it as the movement is quite subtle and only seen through the slats), I was able to set up the cooling effect over a broader area, less intense but more preferred by the cat. At least I felt the cat had the option for cooling down. I did not measure the temperature directly, but I'm guessing it was lowered from about 120 to the 90's. A big difference. I know our AC was fighting to keep us in the 80's inside. In any case, I'm very grateful to this machine and its inventors. It served a life saving purpose for us. And at least I feel I have some sort of go to way of controlling the temperatures outside. No easy feat!

Cool & Wet!
I love this little guy- it provides a refreshing, cool (but wet!) breeze - and can bring instant relief to a miserable and hot location. It's as easy as it looks - hook up the hose, plug it in, and turn it on. It works immediately: it kicks out a fine mist, and the powerful little fan blows it out for some distance, bringing immediate cooling. I will agree with the other posters - it is definitely wet. The area in front of the fan, for a good six to ten feet, will quickly dampen and start puddling within a few minutes. For that reason, you're not going to want to direct this where slipping is an issue, or where people don't otherwise want to get wet. It's perfect for directing into a garden area, onto your children, over the grass, or near a hot tub or poolside (or even a hot grill or BBQ area in the sun). Note that the cooling breeze extends beyond the "wet" area - so if you position this far enough back from the area you want to cool, you will still be fine. I use it to cool areas of the garden for animals (we're in northern California, and 100+ days are common here), and for that purpose it is ideal. For this kind of money, you're not going to get a "dry mist" device - those require much more powerful motors to atomize the water into tiny particles which evaporate before they settle. If that's what you want, you'll have to pay considerably more. For my purposes, this is great!

Works Great and You CAN Adjust positioning of the Mist (up/down)
***NOTE others have said they were disappointed at not being able to adjust the height of the misting nozzles. Well I was scrolling through this listing and underneath the item in the "From the Manufacturer" section where they talk about all the features and have a bunch of pictures, you can clearly see it pivots. :) I just got this yesterday and opened up the box, brought it inside to check it out, and plugged in the fan. I could not believe how quiet this is. Others have said that but until you have it next to you it's hard to believe it sounds about the same as a regular household fan, and smooth sounding. I also tested out the pivot feature and yep, the whole middle part that houses the fan and misting nozzles can easily be moved up or down. I tested it and it can be aimed at the floor (not sure why you'd want to do that) and then upwards from there. You can have the nozzles themselves pointing straight up. I was SO happy to have read about this feature that it seems many are not aware of. You just grab ahold of that middle section, one hand on each end, and you can easily move it to whatever position you want it. The fan is amazing and like others have said definitely blows air a long way out. I cannot believe this small unit can move air that far, and as quietly as it does. I'll update this review in a few months after having used it for some time. The bag with the manual even came with 3 extra misting nozzles! Pretty nice bonus there. And manual says you can order more nozzles as well as the filter that is in the hose adapter nozzle.

Good But does put out a lot of water
This machine really is wonderful. I live in Arizona and is very dry and hot so having the misting fan is super helpful, it truly does lower the temperature by about 30° if you’re in the direct spray. If you’re standing too close, you will get wet, obviously it’s spraying water. I use this in my aviary to keep my birds cool and they love it. I really do wish there was a way to control the flow of water though, make the mist finer or Be able to control how many nozzles are missing water at a time, currently it’s just on or off no ability to control the volume of water coming through it, if you try to turn the hose down It’s simply stoppes mistng and starts dripping. I let this run constantly and for the heat of the day, 6 to 8 hours. In the evening everything in there is pretty drenched. I don’t need as much water as air movement, so adjustable sprays would be super helpful, But otherwise, really fantastic.

This fan works great I love where it reaches over 100 degrees in the summer and we were able to sit outside and stay cool I even use it indoors and the noise level is very low

Lasko Misting fan is Mistacular!!!
Good little misting fan. Picked the lasko over others for the compact size. Easy to handle when in use and store when not. Doesn't take up to much room. The fan has plenty of air moving power. Available three fan speed setting moves the air and mist around nicely. Seems to have the right ratio of mist to air. Oscillate feature is great so don't constantly get hit with mist (user preferences). You can Manually angle the fan up or down if needed. Seems sturdy, only time will tell. Sounds like a fan, not overly obnoxious but noticeable. Overall? Good little outdoor misting fan for the money. Definitely a nice addition while sitting on the patio during a hot summer day!!!

Does just ok, better options out there
So in Portland area, it was well over 100 degrees, hottest days ever. The fan is good (good CFM), reach is about 12-15 feet, and is pretty quiet. It’s adjustable up and down (you set the height and it stays at that level), but the oscillating function (side to side) is pretty much worthless. The internal baffles move back and forth a little bit, unlike a oscillating fan that moves back and forth around 130 degrees. Our deck is 12 feet wide, and at 15 feet from the fan, the cool air won’t hit both sides. It’s more of a personal fan, or about two to three chairs wide (maybe 6 to 7 feet wide at best). The misting action did cool nicely in that minimal area, but it won’t cool a large patio or deck. It does wet everything down in a 4 foot wide by 12 foot long area (this was with no wind that day and 112 heat). In all, I’m going to keep it, mostly because it’s quiet and does put out good CFM of air. If you want a misting fan to cool a larger area, try something else.

Delightful On A Hot Day
I’ve had this for two years now and it’s made hot summer days on the deck much more enjoyable in cool when the sun is blazing. I use my deck much more while it’s blistering hot out, and the dog loves it too! Would highly recommend this mister.
