Soap Ayurvedic Herbal And Vegetable Oil Soap - 2.64 Oz - Case Of 10

I have been using this soap for years and although it has an updated look and feel to the packaging it is indeed the same soap I remember using for about 20 years now. To describe the scent, since so many are opinionated about it, is to say it is definitely not a "western scent". You are not getting "Irish Spring" or "Lifebouy" here. This is an eastern scent which makes it all the more akin to what we may describe as incense. It reminds me of a woody, lime-y, incense that has a lasting smell. Now, if you are not a lover or oriental or woody, even earthy or smokey smells this soap would not be for you based on the smell alone. However, I do believe in it's powers to heal and to cleanse. Remember the ayurvedic system of herbalism is 4000-6000 years old and these amazing plants in India have a remarkable power to balance and heal. This is not something they invented last year, so I trust the passing of time and the millions, perhaps even a billion of people who have used this soap with success. I find that while it may be drying to some, it is useful for oily skin and it makes me feel especially clean and refreshed. The makers it seems, being Indian, have respect for those who are vegetarian and so there seems to be no animal products in the soap (remember the sacred cows of India.) This is nice to know even though I am not usually into that sort of thing. I certainly feel cleaner knowing its based on plant oils than animal oils. Just imagine bathing in animal oils and by products. Just doesn't seem as clean to me.

I spent a year of college in India and used Chandrika soap while I lived there. With poor water pressure there (and most of the time, bucket baths), Chandrika was wonderful because it rinsed off so easily. It has a great scent and leaves me feeling cleaner than any other soap I have used. I especially love to have it now when I travel to areas with hard water because its great lather is not affected like other soaps. Try this soap! The only drawback I have found is that even though my skin is slightly on the oily side of the scale, long term use can dry my skin out in some settings. If the ingredients are not translated in English, you might not notice that along with a lot of wonderful essential oils, the major ingredient is caustic soda (lye). I make a point to rinse it off my face very quickly to limit the drying there. On the positive side, lye is a strong base and can help balance the pH of skin. I am prone to athlete's foot (and other nasty fungal infestations) and I have found that they are easier to control and treat when I am using Chandrika regularly. This soap smells great and leaves me feeling clean. Because of the associations I have with a wonderful time in my life, it takes me to my happy place when I use it. I recommend it to everyone. Even if you don't like it in your shower, you can leave it unwrapped in a dish and take advantage of its great scent in place of incense.

At first, I had underwhelming impressions before trying this product. I thought, "This looks cheap," and "This smells a little too incense-y for my liking." But then... I stepped out of the shower. I can't explain how or what happened but I felt so rejuvenated. I usually used cheap and basic bar soaps like Dove all my life, but after using Chandrika's bar soap I felt stress relief properties, people!!! I was like.. what the heck? I think it might be some key natural ingredients that relieve stress. Whatever it is, I love this stuff. The incense smell went away my second time showering, and all I can smell is the heavenly, lemongrass-y scent blessing my unworthy bathroom. You've got to try this stuff if you're looking for an all-natural, cruelty free bar soap. Other commenters have mentioned that it's a bit drying and I agree with that. However for me, the stress relief and the new spa experience I get with each cleanse is totally worth it. I even want to replace my precious hand soap for this bar. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I've been on an Indiana Jones-esque search for the perfect soap for nearly ten years. I've tried nearly every liquid and bar soap available. From simple Wal-Mart type to boutique soaps that were nearly ten dollars per bar, I could not find one that I loved. For various reasons, whether it was skin feel, or lather amount, or scent, or lack there of, I didn't like any of them. At least I didn't like them well enough to continue using them for longer than a couple of weeks. Chandrika is amazing. The scent is fantastic (my bathroom is nearly always scented with Chandrika), the lather is wonderful, soft, and full while also rinsing off easily. My skin does not typically "hold the scent" of most soaps for longer than an hour or so, but that's not the case when using Chandrika. I smell slightly of citrus, and ginger, with slight hints of sandalwood, all day. It's not perfume-like. Rather, it is fresh and clean. I've also noticed my skin is softer and clearer than with other soaps. This is truly a fantastic soap of which I cannot say enough.

It’s different from the product description. Package was ripped open and bars were loose. Not what I expected and wouldn’t buy again. Should have been shipped in a box not an envelope. Very disappointed.

The soap smells great and lathers nicely. However it comes in 2 styles: one is rectangular with sharp edges, the other is oval with curved edges and is a larger bar that lasts longer.. The version with curved edges is shown on the Amazon web site and on the box itself, but the product is the one with sharp edges. This may seem like a minor point, but I've used both versions and far prefer the oval. It is much easier and more comfortablele to hold. Most annoying to me is that the product supplied is not the one offered.
