DISCLAIMER: I'm a 45 year old man/husband/father and my wife has no idea I purchased this...for myself. Many years ago when I was working as a firefighter I began noticing my feet, and in particular my left foot, kept getting more dry and calloused, and I'd have bouts of athlete's foot and/or toenail fungus. I spent my days in either station boots or rubber boots and my feet would sweat and never have a chance to dry out. My feet became sore, cracked, itchy, and often just ugly and embarrassing to look at so I would never wear flip flops out in public. This was not ideal because I LOVE wearing flip flops. It's been nearly 25 years and even though I'm no longer in the fire service I have since struggled with dry, scaly feet and thick callouses. My wife talked me into trying a pedicure but it was torture for me to have someone prodding at my feet and I spent half the time squirming in the chair. Then the technician left and came back with a Dremel...I kid you not. I have no idea if that is a normal tool used, but since I had the bright idea of getting a pedicure on mother's day, you can imagine I was the only male in the entire place, and definitely the only person who required a freaking hand held grinder. But the end result was my feet were baby butt smooth for about a week so in my opinion the humiliation was worth it. Since then I've tried using pumice stone, files, scrubbing lotions but none of them worked as good as the Dremel but I'd be damned if I was going to use my own personal Dremel on my feet. The thing is made for use with metal after all. Then I found this item. The reviews said it had a decently high RPM and good strength to get the job done. A powerful enough motor is important to maintain the high RPM and level of friction needed, but not too strong that it melts your skin. Being battery operated was perfect, and being rechargeable was double perfect. It also comes with replacement stones which other brands did not. it's compact, fits in your hand well, and is very easy to operate. It also has some heft to it so you feel like your using a reliable piece of equipment and not one that will fall apart in your hand. The packaging is high end as well and can be used over and over again for storing the unit.

I purchased this product in order to remove dead skin cells caused by application of wart remover, I've unfortunately dealt with this a while and it is important to remove the dead calloused skin once or twice per week in order to achieve the best results. As most people have stated before, this little unit is a bit of a powerhouse - I'm generally able to remove a majority of the calloused skin within 10-15 minutes of use. The unit doesn't appear to lose power over that time, but I generally charge the unit right afterwards, so I cannot comment on effectiveness above 20 minutes of continuous use. The only reason that I rated it 4 stars was the fact that the rollers that were included in the package were not abrasive enough to completely fulfill my needs for the product - but I'm not necessarily using the product for its intended purpose, so it's not surprising that this is the case. For someone needing to remove one or two small callouses on their feet, I feel that this product would more than suffice at a wonderful price point compared to other competing products. Another minor flaw in the product is that the unit doesn't notify you when it has reached a full charge, which can account for some "phantom" power loss if you are not diligent at keeping track of how long the unit has been charging for. Above and beyond these two minor flaws though, I feel that this is an excellent product.
