I purchased this encyclopedia to deepen my understanding of herbs and their various uses, and I was honestly surprised by just how many species are covered. The layout is incredibly user-friendly, with everything listed alphabetically. Each entry is surprisingly detailed, providing not just the common name, but also folk names, gender associations, ruling planets, elements, and associated deities. What makes this a "must-have" for me are the specific sections on the powers and magical uses for each plant, paired with intricate illustrations that help with identification. The back of the book is just as valuable as the front; the tables and appendices provide a quick reference to certain topics, such as herbs used to maintain health or the alternative names an herb might go by in ancient folklore. It even includes a list of resources for ordering supplies, which is so helpful for homesteaders and practitioners alike. This is a classic for a reason and truly belongs on everyone's reference shelf.

This book has probably been the most used book in my personal practice. While it’s more popular among Wiccans, any witch can find it useful, especially beginners! I was given a copy years ago and bought this one to give to my friend who’s recently started practicing. The first thing I like about this book is how it’s quite comprehensive, despite being beginner friendly. It has a lot of different plants and their coorespondences both in magical and mundane applications, and the glossary in the back is perfect if you just need a little something without looking through the whole book. If someone told me they were getting into witchcraft, this would be the first book I recommend. I use it just as much now as I did when I only had it.

Great book pretty informative and great resource if you are using herbs in your workings. Nice read, good reference for beginners, I would recommend getting this book as your first herb book.

Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham is book that can be used in many different areas under the umbrellas of Spiritualism and Religion. From aromatherapy to making incense, herbal sachets, herbal baths and herbal teas, this book is the key to choosing the right ingredients. Containing over 400 herbs, this book can be used for hundred, even thousands of different combinations for everyday use. The book is divided into three sections. The first being an introduction to the magical properties of herbs, and how can use these properties to their highest potential. The second, and most important section, lists the herbs. Every herb listing contains a black-and-white sketch of the herb, the scientific name, gender of the plant, the planet and element associated, magical powers the plant possesses, and magical uses. With most, but not all herbs, other common names associated with the herb are listed. Each listing is sorted alphabetically making it easy to quickly find a plant. The only drawback that I can find to this book is that not all listings tell which part of the plant to use. However, with many leafy plants, the leaves, stems, flowers and seeds can be used so it is not a major drawback. The final section to this book contains charts sorting all of the herbs. The lists include both masculine and feminine plants, the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, mars, Jupiter and Saturn, the four Elements, and the magical purposes such as luck, money, love, etc. The final list has the colors white, green, brown, pink, red, yellow, purple, blue and orange, along with the magical purposes associated with each color. Each of the three sections work together to take readers through the process of choosing plants based on the magical purposes, and how to use them to their fullest potential. If readers are looking for a book about plants, and the magical purposes each plant has, this is the book. I give Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs 4 out of 5 stars.

I was bit skepticle regarding the order after reading the seller's review. But the seller Atlantic Publishers and Distributions Pvt. Ltd. did quite a nice job. They sends the original book. It took 15 days to reach but the service was good. About the book it is a great addition in any herbalist's library. You will get many informations regarding herbs, seeds and plants.

Great book, has herbs that are more common in US and Europe region (I think? Something to consider if you're from another part of the world). Nothing too in depth and good book to start your journey!
