Excellent books for beginning readers!
I ordered all 3 sets of these books for my Kindergartner. He already recognizes a bunch of sight words and I wanted to get a great collection of books that would give him lots of practice and lots of success! I taught reading enrichment classes to early readers for ~9 years, so I knew what I was looking for; these are perfect for getting a youngster started! Another reviewer complained that the sets did not differ in difficulty from A to B to C, but I have to disagree. In my picture, a book from set A is at the top, set B in the middle, and set C at the bottom. All three are alike in their simple sentence structure, but there are key differences. Set A books use a very short sentence, usually with only one word changing per page. This lets the child read independently, recognizing the pattern and using visual clues to figure out unknown words, thereby experiencing a lot of success and feeling pride in their reading skills. Set B uses slightly longer sentences or even two sentences per page, and the words that change frequently have more syllables. The pictures still help with figuring it out, though, so your child can move through the text comfortably, learning to not be intimidated by long words (very important!). Set C books seem to focus on words that have challenging phonics elements (like "grew" -- not an easy word to sound out until you've learned that digraph, which usually happens sometime in mid 1st grade) or longer and more diverse sentences with multi-syllabic words. Don't get me wrong; these books are little half steps in the reading process and are all early-mid Kindergarten level, but in setting up your child for success -- giving them confidence and the willingness to try -- these early experiences are crucial! I am very pleased with the purchase and am excited for my kid to try them. P.S. Other people reported getting some duplicates in their boxes; I did not. Seems to be random. Perhaps if you get a duplicate the seller could send you the right one. Customer image

Great Next Step for Growing Readers!
After seeing how much my child enjoyed and benefited from the Level A set, we moved on to the Level B books — and they did not disappoint! These stories are a perfect next step: they introduce slightly more complex vocabulary and sentence structure while still being fun and easy to follow. My child feels so proud reading these on her own, and I’ve noticed her confidence and fluency improve with each book. The illustrations are colorful and engaging, and the books continue to be the perfect size to bring along when we’re out and about. If your little one is ready to build on their early reading skills, this set is a fantastic choice. It’s keeping the learning going while still feeling like play!

A great first step into reading
Bought these to read with my 3 year old daughter to get her on her path to reading. 25 small books. Each book is about 6 pages long and contains one 6 to 8 word sentence and a graphic on each page. The sentences are simple and key words are often repeated throughout the pages. Simple enough to get them to memorize and or predict the words on the page without them actually physically reading the actual words. Recognition is a good first step to reading the actual words these books do a good job of fostering that. I admittedly was apprehensive when I opened the first book because they are so simple. I thought "I could make these myself" but they are working well and my daughter enjoys reading them with me.

Great learning book for first readers.
Got this for my kid who is learning to read. I decided to purchas Level A, B and C set together due to the discount offered while purchasing. My kid loved these & he is so encouraged that he picks his book and keep trying himself. Easy to read, less pages in each and comes as combination of 25 books on different theme. Overall does the job and would recommend these. I do feel for what you get, these could have been more reasonable priced.

Perfect For New Readers
I purchased these. Ok for my new reader. He is in Kindergarten and he’s doing great with them. They aren’t too easy and they keep him thinking about the story. Buy them! You can’t Go Wrong. And the Box they come in is nice and sturdy, perfect for on the go or on the bookshelf.

Great for a kid who didn’t click with a phonics-based approach
As a parent, I’m really happy with these. After kindergarten, my son was a low-average reader, despite us working on reading a couple hours a week all year. I tried these to see if a whole-language approach worked better for him, and it really does! We started at the A level, and he’s now halfway through a box of c-level readers! The stories are mildly interesting to me, which is pretty good considering the limitations of the level, and the books don’t get too difficult too quickly. Now that he’s in first grade, our goal is to do 15-30 minutes of him reading a day and then 15-30 minutes of me reading to him. The books come with a helpful tip sheet, but I recommend parents: - be sure you are pronouncing the synthetic phonics correctly (e.g., “h” is /h/ not /huh/), - picture walking really helped my son be more comfortable, - pointing out hard words in advance and helping him sound out the phonemes, - have him look at the beginning and end of the words and use context to guess (that might not feel like reading, but my main goal is to help him not feel frustrated while he works). - after he has read the set, he can reread them to earn five bonus minutes of screen time for each book he reads (this is very popular). Anyway, if anyone else has a kid who loves stories and being read to, but hates reading, I recommend starting with this series and slowly working through them.

These are great readers for kids having a hard time
This is a great product. I bought it for my grandson who is autistic and is way behind in his reading in school. He loves the books. They are simple enough for him to read and understand. We started by reading one a day right before bed, before I knew it he was wanting to read three a night. I am going to buy the next set up when I feel he is ready.
