They range in subject from history to poetry. It attempts to provide a wider view of what makes up the society, but the reader can get lost in some spaces because of this. It was very easy to read and there was a cohesive voice that made reading even easier. However it might not be the best book to get a better understanding of the culture.

I purchased this book for a class on the Arab gulf. It was used to provide a better understanding of the cultural heritage and public lives of people in the region. This book is made up of a variety of essays. They range in subject from history to poetry. It attempts to provide a wider view of what makes up the society, but the reader can get lost in some spaces because of this. It was very easy to read and there was a cohesive voice that made reading even easier. However it might not be the best book to get a better understanding of the culture.
